Carolyn BrackettCarolyn Brackett is a Senior Program Associate in the Heritage Tourism program with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She has spoken at tourism and preservation conferences, or worked as a heritage tourism consultant in several states including: Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee and Washington DC. Brackett also served as the Statewide Projects Coordinator for Tennessee 2000, Executive Director of Historic Nashville, and the State Coordinator of the heritage tourism program for the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development. Linda CaldwellLinda Caldwell is Executive Director of the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association, a heritage tourism program in Southeast Tennessee. She has held this position since 1990, when the region was selected as a pilot area for the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Heritage Tourism Initiative. Prior to her work with the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association, Caldwell was Director of the Etowah Arts Commission, a rural arts council that develops arts and humanities programs for the public. She has also served as Chair of the Tennessee Humanities Council and Chair of Tennesseans for the Arts. Suella McMillanSuella McMillan has successfully developed arts and cultural services in
rural northwest Florida for over twenty years by focusing on the cultural
social, and political infrastructure needed to foster cultural, heritage and
humanities tourism. McMillan believes in the beauty and power of art to shape
the cultural horizons of communities in economic transition from farming and
lumber and other traditional industries. J. Myrick HowardJ. Myrick Howard has been President of Preservation North Carolina, the state's only statewide private nonprofit preservation organization since 1978. Preservation NC is one of the nation's largest and most prestigious statewide preservation organizations. The National Parks Service has referred to the PNC as "the premier statewide preservation in the South--if not the nation." PNC's endangered properties program, the first of its kind in the nation, is regarded as one of the best. Since 1977, more than 450 historic properties in more than 60 counties have been protected y the program, resulting in the investment of over $100 million in private funds. A Durham native, Myrick attended Brown University and the UNC at Chapel Hill where he received his Master's degree in city planning and a law degree. He has been extensively published and has made presentations about PNC"s work in more than 30 states and three foreign countries. He teaches a graduate seminar on Historic Preservation Planning each year at UNC Chapel Hill. Todd MorseTodd Morse is the fourth generation President and General Manager of Chimney Rock Company-a family owned and operated business. Chimney Rock Park is widely known not only for its spectacular views, but also for its excellent customer service and quality programming. In 2002, the park was presented the First Citizens Amazing Customer Service Award and the International Association of Attractions and Amusement Parks, Spirit of Excellence Award. Tony KleeseTony Kleese has been active in the local and national sustainable agriculture movement for the past 14 years as a farmer and an activist. As a farmer he has managed organic vegetable and cut flower operations in Chatham, Franklin, Orange and Yancey counties. As an activist he served as Coordinator of the Organic Trade Association's Organic Certifiers Council working with organic certifiers from across the US to help develop the USDA's National Organic Standards. Locally he has been the Coordinator and an Instructor for the Sustainable Farming Program at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro, NC. He has also served as Certification Chair, President, organic farm inspector, and is currently the Executive Director of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. |
