The 1000/100 Project PartnersHeritage and Cultural Tourism Partnership of North Carolina’s mission is to generate long-term vision and leadership for heritage and cultural tourism.
The Yadkin Pee Dee Lakes Project is a regional sustainable development organization that approaches the development of heritage tourism as rural economic development. The 1000/100 Project partners are all private, nonprofit corporations with IRS 501 (c) (3) statuses. NC Museums Council Receives Grant for 1000/100 ProjectThe North Carolina Museums Council received a three-year commitment from the Institute of Museums and Library Services (IMLS) for the 1000/100 Project. The $229,234 grant to be made over three years, was the largest grant made in the Professional Practices category of the National Leaderships Grants to Museums program. Wachovia Supports the 1000/100 ProjectWe are pleased to announce that Wachovia Bank has become an important sponsor of the 1000/100 Project. Understanding the vital role cultural tourism can play in the economies of North Carolina’s cities and rural communities, Wachovia has pledged $20,000 for each of the three years of the Project. We are immensely grateful for their commitment. Working through partnerships, Wachovia has been dedicated to building and sustaining strong and vibrant communities, improving education and strengthening neighborhoods. Progress Energy Funds 1000/100 FellowshipsProgress Energy was one of the earliest supporters of the project, and we are extremely thankful and pleased to announce that Progress Energy has provided general support to the Project, and funding for four Fellowships to the 1000/100 Project program. Residents of Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Greene, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico, Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson counties are encouraged to apply to become Progress Energy Fellows.
